Back in December when I was looking forward to Spring, I had a feeling La Niña might pull a trick on us.
The poor robins didn't know what to do yesterday morning with all the worms tucked snuggly in their beds rather than risk the snowy commute.

Below the surface in some of our cold water habitats It seems as though every inch is covered with living creatures. And they are all busy about the same thing: eating.

I often go head down when I'm underwater to get a closer look at things.
UP side down helps me get a fresh perspective ~ to view my surroundings from a different angle. I try to do that above water too. I don't stand on my head, I just try to get a new perspective by looking at things... read more

This creepy looking creature is a cold water denizen ~ the Basket Star. Like most (but not all) 'starfish' the Basket Star moves very slowly. And while it looks bizarre photographed this close and at this angle it really is a very beautiful creature.

Tropical water is warm and inviting... and while I prefer cold water diving I must admit tropical diving has its good points. Not only is the water warm but the visibility isn't measured by how many fingers you can see with your arm outstretched.

It's amazing how few collisions there are but this one cut it close. Actually the guy with the orange trunks is ducking under the coming wave.
