Grote Knip and Jumping Bakers

Posted by Pastor Ron Friday, December 16, 2011 8:00:00 AM
Grote Knip and Jumping Bakers Marilyn enjoyed walking on the coral sand beach at Grote Knip also known as Playa Abou in Papiamento. It was a short drive from where we were staying at Playa Lugun and seems to be very popular with both tourists and locals. Arriving early and then leaving before the crowds arrive is a... read more

Playa Lagun ~ Curacao

Posted by Pastor Ron Thursday, December 15, 2011 8:00:00 AM
Playa Lagun ~ Curacao We've been on vacation for several weeks and other than it taking 26 hours and three flights to get there Curacao is really nice. Beautiful, warm and slow paced. Robin picked an excellent location. It would have been nice not to have come down with pneumonia but I only missed a couple... read more

I'm too fat to move

Posted by Pastor Ron Wednesday, December 14, 2011 8:00:00 AM
I'm too fat to move "Please don't make me move. Take all the pictures you want just don't make me move! Please, I just want to sit here and wait for dinner. And don't make me think. I know my head looks really big but it isn't for thinking, I just needed a place to put my mouth. K?" "And don't call me a... read more

Sailfin Scuplins

Posted by Pastor Ron Tuesday, December 13, 2011 8:00:00 AM
Sailfin Scuplins I've had a hard time getting decent pictures of these little Sailfin Sculpins. Whenever I get close then off they dart only to turn around and look at me from an angle or at a distance that isn't on my pose list. But this one did let me get up close an personal. I love their eyes! read more

What a mug!

Posted by Pastor Ron Monday, December 12, 2011 8:00:00 AM
What a mug! What a mug. Looks like it could suck a squid out of a coke bottle. Another very skitterish fish, Painted Greenlings usually don't stick around for close-ups. But the Ange Mind Trick brings them right in. read more

Flat fish

Flat fish What a sad looking fish! But then if I woke up with both eyes on the same side of my head drooling slime I think I would be sad too! Ummmmm... actually... uhhhh... never mind. These guys usually skitter away when approached because divers look a lot like sea lions underwater and... read more

Here... let me get that speck out of your eye

Posted by Pastor Ron Saturday, December 10, 2011 8:00:00 AM
Here... let me get that speck out of your eye I'm amazed at how close some fish have let me get with my camera. Actually, Chris Immer has that camera now. The camera I have now wouldn't focus this close. As long as I kept thinking the good thoughts I could approach as close as I wanted. Dave Ange taught me that. Of course we... read more

Tiger and China

Posted by Pastor Ron Friday, December 09, 2011 8:00:00 AM
Tiger and China I personally haven't seen Tiger Rockfish here in Puget Sound. This one was in British Columbia. The China Rockfish below was also in British Columbia. Both were more skittish than the rockfish I've encountered here. read more

Not a stone ~ a rock

Posted by Pastor Ron Thursday, December 08, 2011 8:00:00 AM
Not a stone ~ a rock Not like the Stone Fish of yesterday that mimics a stone, our Pacific Northwest Rockfish gets its name from its habitat ~ rocks. And unlike the Stone Fish they hardly ever sit still. Still I've found them more cooperative when it comes to taking pictures than my grandchildren. The... read more

Stone Fish

Posted by Pastor Ron Wednesday, December 07, 2011 8:00:00 AM
Stone Fish The aptly named Stone Fish sits there perfectly still as a stone blending in with its surroundings. But when a fish swims by this stone it disappears in an explosive gulp! It is only colorful in this picture because I have a dive light shining on it. Water absorbs light and the deeper... read more
