BFF - best friends forever! Really?
First of all, what is a friend? Our youngest daughter didn't diminish the value of that precious word by throwing it around loosely. She recognized early that between acquaintances and friends there were what she called 'franks'. More that acquaintances but less that friends.
There is another category of 'friends' that we could call fauxfs (pronounced foe-phs) from the French word faux which means false. They are not really friends at all. How sad for you if your imagined BFF is really just a fauxf.
And what about Best and Forever?
Best? Really? You have a friend who is better than all the rest? Someone who would put your interests ahead of their own? OK, maybe. There are some self-less people out there, but would they sacrifice their life for you? OK, maybe. There are even a few of those too.. but then it wouldn't be Forever would it.
Let me tell you about the only real BFF: Jesus. He died to pay for your sin so that you could go to heaven. He rose from the dead and lives forever and you can live forever too if you will make Him your BFF.
He said, 'I will never leave you nor forsake you' and He hasn't. He is my BFF. Really.
