When the tide is out

"When the tide is out the table is set" is a old saying of the Northwest Native Americans. Another saying I've heard: "When the tide is out the beach stinks."
Actually both are true I suppose.. plenty to eat if you hold your nose. (Personally, I'm not offended by the smell of low tide unless it has been out too long.)
I've come up with my own old saying and though I doubt it will pass into folklore by way of oral tradition here goes:
"The tide goes out- the tide comes in- the beach smells fresh and clean again- let's eat."
I came up with my new 'old saying' just this morning as I was contemplating the ebb and flow of life and other serious spiritual thoughts. In our lives things come and go and then come back again. And sometimes low tide really stinks. But if we look we will find God's provision there.. maybe especially there.. in the times of low tide.
Wait until the tide turns to have your sit down feast. Low tide is the time to gather. High tide is the time to eat.. and it smells better too.
